SALARY : $125,000 - $135,000

- Lead a diverse team covering an array of topics, including but not limited to policy and economic research, data analysis, legislative support, ITSD support, communications and marketing and subject matter expertise in specialized areas
- Collaborate effectively with a diverse range of internal and external stakeholders
- Balance multiple stakeholder needs and interests to find optimal solutions (e.g. customer, team, and taxpayers)
- Provide structure to coach and assist Division Leaders and their teams to produce excellent results for our customers through accountability, customer service, process improvement, and innovation
- Develop a performance management infrastructure to put in place across functional teams
- Build and institutionalize a culture of innovation to ensure that our team, programs, processes, and customer service meet the economy's and our customers' needs
- Research, oversee, and assist with development of policy, programs, rules, and legislative initiatives that support the direction of DED
- Implement, track and measure economic development strategies and policies that capitalize on existing programs and assets, while also identifying new opportunities to maximize the state's economic vitality and value
- Assist in developing policy recommendations and legislative proposals
- Influence and align the Strategy & Performance teams' strategic direction
- Prepare and manage team budgets and expenses
- Additional duties as needed/assigned
Qualifications + Preferred Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
- Nine years of professional relevant experience to include at least five years of successful team leadership and supervisory experience - This can be obtained through a combination of work experience and completion of a Bachelor's degree or higher with an emphasis in Business or Public Administration, Finance, Community or Economic Development, Economics, or a related field - Master's degree preferred
- Lack of post-secondary education will not be used as the sole basis for denying consideration to any applicant
- Successful team leadership and project management experience, including managing direct reports and training team members
- Proficiency and passion for operational excellence and continuous improvement - Familiarity with and experience implementing Lean/Six Sigma concepts in helpful
- Experience interpreting and applying state statues, rules, and guidelines (federal a plus)
- High-level work quality, including: Personal ownership and accountability and excellent communication skills (both written and verbal)
- Ability to rapidly learn and understand complex topics and effectively communicate them
- Demonstrated commitment to exceptional customer service
- Ability to prioritize work, work efficiently and productively
- Ability to function and adjust in a fast-paced and busy environment
- Skill in collecting analyzing, and organizing complex technical data to guide decisions and operations
- Proficiency in building and analyzing Microsoft Excel spreadsheets
