    Full-time position available with the Office of the City Manager, Equity Office located at 414 E. 12th St.
    Salary Range: $4,619-$6,928/month
    Normal Work Days/Hours: Monday-Friday, 8:00 a.m.-5:00 p.m.

    Responsibilities

    The City of Kansas City is seeking a dynamic and collaborative Equity Coordinator to lead and support the initiatives that promote equity across City departments and within the community. This role manages complex, cross-departmental projects, builds relations with residents and partners, and helps shape equitable policy, service delivery, and community engagement practices. The Equity Coordinator collaborates with departments to embed equity principles in policies and programs; develop and promote tools, trainings, and resources to build staff capacity

    The Equity Coordinator also identifies and manages grant-funded projects-particularly those from public-sector innovation funders focused on climate and environmental justice, health equity, housing, economic opportunity, community engagement and more.

    Key Responsibilities:
    • Manages complex, multi-stakeholder equity-focused projects with competing deadlines utilizing Exceptional project management and organizational skills
    • Utilizes data and research to inform and evaluate policy or programmatic decisions that support the implementation of the city's equity goals and strategies.
    • Effectively works with communities from a variety of backgrounds in co-creation processes and community engagement through equitable and inclusive frameworks.
    • Researches, identifies, and manages grants and partnerships aligned with equity priorities.



    Qualifications

    REQUIRES an accredited Bachelor's degree and 3 years of professional experience in business or public sector administration to include at least 2 years performing administrative and/or supervisory work involving more complex projects or programs; OR an equivalent combination of qualifying education and experience with at least 2 years performing administrative and/or supervisory work involving more complex projects or programs.

    Preferred qualifications:
    • 3 to 5 years of progressively responsible experience in project management, public policy, equity work, or related roles in government or nonprofit settings.
    • Demonstrated experience engaging diverse communities and building trust with historically underrepresented populations.
    • Experience applying equity and anti-discrimination frameworks to public programs and services.
    • Strong facilitation and interpersonal skills, with the ability to navigate sensitive conversations across cultural and institutional contexts.
    • Experience with data collection, analysis, and performance measurement tools.
    • Grant writing and management experience.

Unless otherwise specified, an accredited degree must be obtained from a college or university listed with the U.S. Department of Education and recognized by the U.S. Secretary of Education.
    For positions with a salary grade of EX6 or higher that require an accredited degree, qualifying professional experience must be obtained AFTER the accredited degree is obtained.
    Successful completion of a pre-employment criminal history/background check is required for all positions. Some positions require a post offer drug screen and/or physical.

    If appointed, non-residents must obtain residency inside Kansas City, Missouri's city limits within nine months.
