  • Job Description

    School Office Assistant - Missouri School for the Deaf (MSD)

    $35,880 annually (11-month position with month of July off, paid 12-months)

    7:30am - 4pm, Monday-Friday

    The incumbent must have the ability to perform the essential functions below either with or without reasonable accommodations .

    Essential Functions and Skills:

    • Maintains an organized filing system, clerical records and prepares reports.
    • Proficiently navigate and enter data in the districts student information system.
    • Proficiently uses calculator and computer equipment and programs.
    • Answers telephone calls and opens incoming correspondence.
    • Meets the public. Acts as a receptionist for visitors in respective buildings.
    • Prepares orders for supplies and equipment.
    • Acts as receiving clerk for all supplies and equipment in respective buildings.
    • Maintains attendance records for employees and/or students when necessary.
    • Ability to research materials, products and other related items as necessary.
    • Proficiency in typing, computer input, dictation and transcription.
    • Ability to supervise, schedule and coordinate appointments, and direct routine office work.
    • Ability to meet the public and provide routine information independently.
    • Thorough knowledge of spelling, punctuation and other communication skills.
    • Ability to meet the required American Sign Language competency level of Intermediate.
    • Ability to execute bookkeeping procedures.
    • Ability to use a variety of office equipment.
    • Ability to establish and maintain effective and harmonious working relationships with students, staff and fellow employees.
    • May be assigned responsibility for special projects or portions thereof.
    • Performs related work as assigned.


    Minimum Qualifications:

    • High School Diploma or G.E.D. certificate.
    • Must be certified or be willing to obtain and maintain certification in CPR and CPI (Crisis Prevention Intervention) training.


    Preferred Qualifications:

    • Previous Office Assistant experience preferred.
