Why you’ll love this position: Document Solutions offers a wide variety of digital, print and mail solutions in both small and large volumes for Missouri State Government. As a Graphics Designer, you will consult and design a variety and volume of visual informational products.
The salary indicated represents a base pay rate. If the individual selected or the position is eligible for a pay differential (e.g., shift, security, or years of service), it will be added to the total compensation in your paycheck. A pay differential does not raise your base pay.
- Design and prepare a variety of bulletins, manuals, and booklet covers which can be reproduced by means of standard printing processes.
- Develops graphic artwork, layouts, and designs utilizing computer-assisted technology and a variety of media, equipment, and specialized graphic hardware and software.
- Function as liaison with printing vendors and/or staff printers; review proofs for accuracy.
- Design and construct, or direct the construction of, various visual presentations, including photographic displays, and exhibit from various sources; generate the finished product in various formats.
- Prepare black/white and/or full color printed documents and publications.
- Prepare graphics for use in website design.
- Prepare and/or modify graphic artwork received from other agencies for printing and mailing.
- Typeset forms in accordance with established state standards.
- Create a fillable PDF of existing and new state forms with established state standards.
- Prepare and maintain files of projects and artwork for archives.
- Oversee the printing of four-color and complex print jobs by observing press runs and examining color accuracy.
- Serve as designer in developing and preparing various publications and web pages.
- Exercise independence in the performance of duties, with work being reviewed to assure accuracy of message.
- Other duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications - Associate degree or equivalent experience. (Substitutions may be allowed.)
- 1-2 years of relevant experience.
- Knowledge of computer graphics programs, font styles, file formats, and the operation of various electronic equipment.
- Ability to create posters, drawings, diagrams, charts, maps, brochures, newsletters, business cards, exhibits, displays, and illustrations.
- Ability to translate the varied activities of an agency or program into informative and attractive visual communications.
- Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships and communicate with staff, management, and other agency personnel on a professional level.
Preferred Qualifications - Knowledge of Adobe Creative Cloud including InDesign, Photoshop, Illustrator and Acrobat.
- Knowledge of typeface, color harmony, and use of color .
- Knowledge of typography, and typesetting principles and methods.
- Ability to create forms and fillable PDF’s using established state standards for state agencies.
- Ability to prioritize work and meet deadlines.
- Must possess and maintain a valid Missouri operator’s license.
