About the position:Responsible for complex administrative, management and professional work assisting the Executive Director for the Water Resources Division (Scottsdale Water) in the operational areas of the division including water/wastewater treatment, wastewater collections, water distribution, and water reclamation/re-use.
Anticipated starting salary for this position may be up to mid-point depending on candidate’s experience and internal equity. The full salary range is listed above and mid-point for this position is $178,068.80 /annually. Minimum QualificationsEducation and Experience- Bachelor's Degree in a Water Resources, Physical or Biological science, Engineering, Business, Public Administration, Management, or related field from an accredited educational institution.
- Ten years of experience in water, wastewater, water quality and/or water engineering including seven years at a management level.
- Any equivalent combination of education and/or job-related experience that meets the minimum qualifications may be substituted.
Licensing, Certifications and Other Requirements- Must possess upon hire or promotion and maintain all four Grade 2 operator certifications from the Arizona Department of Environmental Quality (ADEQ) within the disciplines of Water Treatment, Water Distribution, Wastewater Treatment and Wastewater Collections.
- Every person employed by the City of Scottsdale shall reside in the State of Arizona during his or her active employment by the City, regardless of whether the employee is approved to remote work.
Other pertinent licenses and/or certifications may be required depending on department/section assignment.
Essential FunctionsPerforms duties and responsibilities commensurate with assigned functional area which may include, but are not limited to, any combination of the following:
- Acts on the Executive Director's behalf by assignment or delegation in the Executive Director's absence.
- Supervises employees and coordinates personnel-related activities to include, but not limited to: training, approving work schedules, recommending/approving personnel actions, coaching and counseling, establishing performance goals, and writing performance evaluations.
- Provides direction, supervision and coordination of the activities of Water Resources staff in the operation and maintenance of the water and wastewater treatment facilities, distribution/collection systems and all technology, electronic, and communication systems.
- Provides oversight in the administration of all contracts related to water and wastewater operations.
- Plans, organizes and directs multiple functions and activities of the department with the Executive Director in the development and implementation of department budgets, expenditure controls, management practices, operational standards, policies, procedures, short and long-term goals and strategies.
- Listens, communicates and deals effectively with management, subordinates and representatives of other government agencies and the general public, researching as necessary to provide requested information.
- PreparesCity Council reports, Ordinances and Resolutions for Council consideration and ensures implementation pursuant to Council policy direction.
