Job Description:Purpose:Under general direction, this position performs auditing work which includes investigating, reviewing, and analyzing financial information, internal controls, operational performance, and management practices to ensure compliance with internal policies and procedures and Local, State, and Federal laws, statutes, and guidelines.
Duties, Functions, and Responsibilities: Essential duties and functions, pursuant to the Americans with Disabilities Act, may include the following. Other related duties may be assigned.
- Manages complex audits, large projects, or fraud investigations.
- Prepares risk assessments of the department or specific processes to be audited.
- Plans audits, including objectives, scope, methodologies, and audit program.
- Collects, reviews, and analyzes various types of information and data that are significant to the project.
- Conducts interviews with personnel as part of project execution. P
- Performs tests of internal controls to ensure the safeguarding of assets, compliance with laws and policies, the accomplishment of objectives, the reliability of information, and the efficiency of operations.
- Prepares and reviews work papers and draft audit reports.
- Develops conclusions, recommends improvements, and communicates audit results to auditees.
- Presents audit results to the audit committee and/or executive management. Develops audit policies, procedures, and templates to ensure compliance with relevant regulations.
- Coordinates with other agencies and auditors.
- Coaches others on audit skills.

- Knowledge of the concepts for reviewing and evaluating internal control systems and auditing procedures.

Minimum Qualifications:- Four (4) year degree in accounting, business, social sciences, public administration, or related field.
- Four (4) years of relevant experience, including two (2) years of lead or supervisory experience.
- Masters in related field can substitute for one (1) year of experience.
Licenses and Certifications Required:CIA, CGAP, CPA, CISA, CFE, or other relevant certification required.

Preferred Experience:- Experience leading audits and audit teams.
- Experience working as a government auditor or internal auditor.
- Experience conducting fraud investigations.
- Experience using TeamMate or TeamMate+ audit software or other electronic working paper software.
- Ability to travel to more than one work location.
Notes to Candidate:Position Overview:This position will oversee operational process audits and information technology audits, focusing on IT infrastructure, security, applications, processes, and operations. Additionally, the role may involve conducting consulting projects and investigations.
Critical employee:This position has been designated as critical for the City of Austin. Critical positions are necessary and support activities that impact City or department operations. Work can be done while at a designated work site or while working at an alternate work location. Critical employees may be reassigned to another area to provide essential services to support any extraordinary situations or emergency conditions.
Pay Range: $33.49 - $42.71 per hour
Position(s) will be filled at the following location:Waller Creek Center (625 E. 10th St., Austin, TX)
Days and Hours:Monday through Friday, 8:00 AM - 5:00 PM, with the potential for a hybrid work schedule, pending approval from the manager. Other hours as business needs require.
