Minimum Salary: $50,000 (commensurate with experience)
The salary indicated represents a base pay rate. If the candidate selected is eligible for a years-of-service pay differential, it will be added to the total compensation. A pay differential does not raise the base pay.
Job Location: This position is located at the Harry S Truman State Office Building, 301 W High Street, Jefferson City, Missouri.
Why is the work you do in this position important to Missouri? This is an exciting opportunity to join a small human resources team that provides customer-focused support to team members in the Insurance Divisions and Office of the Public Counsel within the Department of Commerce and Insurance. You will serve as a vital resource for team members, ensuring smooth operations and a positive employee experience. You will support the entire employee life cycle, including compensation, time and leave, payroll, position classification, recruitment and selection, training and development, onboarding and performance management. You will be integral to ensuring all team members receive support and our department remains engaged in statewide initiatives and best practices.
- Participate in recruitment, onboarding and off-boarding processes.
- Represent the department at hiring events and career fairs.
- Maintain the MO Careers applicant tracking system.
- Conduct new hire orientation and disseminate information regarding benefits, policies and procedures.
- Serve as a point of contact for human resources questions.
- Provide guidance to employees based upon federal law, state law, statewide policies and department policies.
- Maintain electronic personnel files.
- Assist with reconciling timekeeping entries and payroll transactions.
- Assist with processing personnel actions.
- Assist with special projects and other duties that may be assigned.
What are the qualifications for the position? - Knowledge through a Bachelor’s degree or 3 or more years of experience in human resources, business administration or a closely related field.
- Knowledge of the principles and practices of human resources and personnel administration concepts.
- Knowledge of federal and state employment laws.
- Ability to exercise discretion and confidentiality.
- Ability to work collaboratively with team members.
- Effective communication skills, both verbal and written.
- Experience with Microsoft Office products, particularly Outlook, Word and Excel.
- Excellent attention to detail and the ability to prioritize work.
Preferred Qualifications - Knowledge of SAM II HR, SAM II Data Warehouse, MOBIUS and MO Careers.
- Involvement in sessions related to transitioning to MOVERS (HCM).
