motivated and
experienced Library Manager to
lead our Adult Services Division. In this
hands-on leadership role, you will guide a passionate team of full-time and part-time staff dedicated to delivering innovative programming, and managing dynamic, inclusive collections that reflect the diverse and evolving needs of our community. You will also play a key role in

What You'll Do: - Lead, mentor and evaluate staff while fostering a culture of growth, innovation and accountability.
- Guide inclusive programming aligned with community needs.
- Engage with the Burlingame community; represent the Library at events; ensure a welcoming, responsive environment.
- Oversee adult collections to ensure diversity, relevance and accessibility using data-driven practices.
- May lead tech upgrades and digital initiatives that enhance outreach, access and service delivery.
- Manage division budgets and monitor program and service performance to identify opportunities for improvement.
- Oversee special projects and coordinate with the City Librarian.
- Deliver clear reports and presentations; work cross-divisionally to support adult services and community partnerships.
- Work collaboratively with other library divisions to ensure high-quality public service.

QUALIFICATIONS (The following are minimal qualifications necessary for entry into the classification) EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE: Any combination of experience and training that would likely provide the required knowledge and abilities is qualifying. A typical way to obtain the knowledge and abilities would be:
Obtaining a Master’s degree in Library Science from an ALA accredited school and at least three years professional library experience in a public library setting including some supervisory experience.
PHYSICAL, MENTAL, AND ENVIRONMENTAL WORKING CONDITIONS Ability to work in a standard library environment; ability to stoop, sit, stand, walk, kneel, crouch, squat, reach, and twist, climb stairs; ability to use independent judgement and initiative. Ability to lift up to 50 pounds and push/pull up to 100 pounds.

SELECTION PROCESS All applications will be reviewed for relevant education, experience, training and other job related qualifications. Meeting the minimum qualifications does not guarantee that a candidate will be invited to participate in the selection process. Based upon a review of employment applications and resumes received, a limited number of the qualified applicants will be invited to participate in the examination process.
The process will consist of an Oral Panel Interview. An eligibility list will be established from those who pass the examination process with a score of 70% or higher. Current and future vacancies may be filled from this list. The list will remain in effect for at least one year unless abolished sooner.
The hiring managers will invite the most qualified candidates from the eligibility list to a department interview. The departments will make the final appointment.
Note: The City of Burlingame reserves the right, at its discretion, to limit the number of qualified candidates invited to the selection process.
