Check out our video to see what working for the City of Newport Beach is like! Currently, there is one full-time Transportation Manager/City Traffic Engineer vacancy in the Public Works Department. This position serves as the Transportation and Development Services Section manager of the Engineering Division. In this role, the selected candidate will supervise professional and technical engineering staff, perform advanced level professional engineering work, and provide professional level staff assistance to the Deputy Public Works Director/City Engineer and the Public Works Director.

Experience & Education and License/CertificateA combination of experience and training that would likely provide the required knowledge and abilities may be qualifying. A typical way to obtain the knowledge and abilities would be:
Experience: Six years of increasingly responsible professional civil and traffic engineering experience including two years supervisory and project management experience.
Education: Equivalent to a Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university with major course work in civil engineering.
License or Certificate: Due to the performance of some field duties, which require the operation of a personal or City vehicle, a valid and appropriate California driver’s license and an acceptable driving record is required.
Possession of Certificate of Registration as a professional engineer in the State of California.
Possession of current licensing as a Registered Professional Engineer in Traffic Engineering issued by the State Board of Registration for Professional Engineers in the State of California.
