Job Location: This position will be located at 205 Jefferson St., Jefferson City, MO 65101.
Why you’ll love this position: The School Improvement office will review applications, consult with local school officials as needed and approve eligible summer school programs for state aid.
- Review and approve school improvement processes and applications in light of applicable statute, rule, policy, and existing agency publications, including but not limited to summer school application.
- Provide technical assistance to internal and external stakeholders related to various school improvement programs, including but not limited to summer school, Missouri Option, and the Missouri School Improvement Program.
- Develop and revise school improvement materials, as appropriate, including but not limited to the DESE Summer School Handbook and its appendices and all associated forms.
- Review documents and assurances (e.g., Alternative Methods of Instruction, Missouri Option applications, summer school review checklists, summer school approval forms, district assurance checklists, charter assurance checklists, etc.) submitted from local education agencies (LEAs) and provide consultation as necessary.
- Coordinate reviews with the Division of Financial and Administrative Services for non-certificated staff and disallowable course hours for Average Daily Attendance (ADA).
- Serve as liaison between the high school equivalency (HSE) test contractors, high school equivalency office and local Missouri Option Program administrators.
- Participate in office- and agency-wide standing and ad hoc working groups.
- Work closely with agency staff in other sections to ensure coordination of communication across school improvement and related agency programs.
- Develop and revise, as appropriate, technical assistance manuals for school improvement programs.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
- Demonstrate regular, reliable, and engaged attendance.
Minimum Qualifications: - A bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university in education, business administration, or closely related field.
OR - Four years professional experience in educational compliance related work, business administration, elementary and secondary education, or closely related experience.
