What You'll Be Doing This is a federal entitlement grant funded position and may end upon loss of grant fundingWake County’s Short-term Rent, Mortgage and Utility (STRMU) Program for people living with HIV/AIDS helps change the lives of people in our community everyday!
STRMU provides short-term, stabilizing interventions to households experiencing a financial crisis because of their HIV health condition or a change in their economic circumstances.
STRMU is designed to prevent households from becoming homeless by helping them remain in their own dwellings and when utilized together with other efforts, including access to health care services, case management, benefits counseling and employment or vocational services, works to stabilize assisted households.

About Our TeamWake County Department of Housing’s goal is to ensure that quality affordable housing is available for all Wake County residents. As the population and economy continue to grow in Wake County, the need for affordable housing development and preservation increases. Not only do more units of affordable housing need to be built, housing services must be provided to support families and individuals to access or maintain safe, decent, affordable housing. The Basics (Required Education and Experience) - Bachelor's degree in Social Work or related field
- One year of job-related experience
- Valid Driver's License and "safe" driving record
- Equivalent education and experience are accepted

Beyond the Basics (Preferred Education and Experience) - Comprehensive case management experience working directly with homeless and disabled individuals and families
- Experience with the Housing First Model
How Will We Know You're 'The One'? - Knowledge of case management techniques, with the ability to develop and implement effective case management systems
- Excellent interpersonal and emotional intelligence skills required
- Must have the ability to regularly interact effectively and empathetically with all constituents from different backgrounds, including those in varying states of tension
- Excellent Initiative and ability to proactively identify challenges, have a solutions-based approach to challenges and be able to manage and de-escalate problem situations successfully
