As the Education and Volunteer Coordinator for Larimer County’s Department of Natural Resources, you will lead the development, management, and evaluation of our education and volunteer programs. You’ll drive impactful outreach and engagement initiatives that spark curiosity and foster stewardship of the outdoors.

ResponsibilitiesWhat you'll be doing:
- Leading strategic initiatives, programs, and services that align with department priorities. Developing clear evaluation methods to measure the success and impact of outreach, education, and volunteer efforts.
- Designing and delivering inclusive, accessible programming that reflects the diverse communities of Larimer County.
- Supervising a team of full-time, temporary staff, and volunteers-recruiting, hiring, coaching, and managing performance while fostering a culture rooted in integrity, respect, and inclusion.
- Providing dynamic leadership of the department’s education program-creating interpretive lesson plans, signage, digital/printed materials, and guiding hikes, field trips, and presentations tailored to diverse audiences.
- Building and managing a meaningful volunteer program by overseeing recruitment, onboarding, training, and evaluation. Support other staff in volunteer coordination, while addressing volunteer concerns with a solutions-focused, team-oriented approach.
- Collaborating with the Public Engagement Team to promote programs, support outreach, and share stewardship messaging across platforms and events.
- Cultivating strong partnerships with community organizations and agencies to broaden impact and engagement.
- Maintaining accurate records, reports, policies, and statistics. Communicate program successes through presentations and reports for staff, advisory boards, and community groups.
- Managing a program budget, including purchasing and resource allocation.

- Self-motivated and adaptable-comfortable working independently in a flexible, hybrid environment, including evenings or weekends as needed.
- Passion for advancing equity and inclusion in public lands, with experience supporting accessibility, diversity, and belonging.
- Skilled in developing and delivering interpretive programs and materials; able to adapt content to suit different ages, needs, and educational standards.
- Experienced in volunteer management-recruitment, retention, training, and recognition-as well as supervisory practices.
- Strong decision-making and problem-solving abilities.
- Tech-savvy, with proficiency in tools like Microsoft Office, web platforms, databases, and presentation software. Familiarity with Offero is a plus.
- Knowledge of Northern Colorado’s natural ecosystems, plants, and wildlife is helpful.
- Able to understand and apply county policies, procedures, and guidelines.
- Reliable, consistent attendance in a hybrid work setting is essential.
