DescriptionEstablishes, coordinates, and supervises maintenance personnel in the installation, removal, and maintenance of transit stops and terminals, and establishes restrooms contracts throughout Metro's service area in order to improve conditions in the field and implement new ideas for existing and future stops and zones to accommodate Metro's patrons.

Examples of Duties - Plans, organizes, and assigns maintenance tasks, such as the installation or removal of transit posts, signs, and zones, including layover zones, to ATU (Amalgamated Transit Union) maintenance personnel
- Monitors stops, bus zones, layovers, and restroom facilities by checking for hazards, furniture, and overall cleanliness
- Monitors and evaluates work performance of maintenance personnel in accordance with established policies and procedures to ensure that goals are met and assesses discipline when necessary
- Assesses training needs and develops training programs for maintenance personnel
- Provides technical advice and prepares complex technical reports and studies on stops and zones and related matters
- Evaluates transit zone sites to determine the best location for transit stops and informs appropriate personnel of the changes and/or modifications
- Establishes contracts with businesses to grant restroom privileges to Metro personnel, e.g., Bus Operators
- Monitors existing bus stops, bus zones, and restroom contracts
- Responds to internal and external customer complaints
- Interacts with local government agencies to investigate and resolve complaints about transit stops
- Organizes and maintains inventory of various signs and orders stock as needed
- Reviews public utility and building construction engineering plans to determine impact on Metro operations and facilities
- Prepares proposals to various government agencies to obtain funds to improve transit stop and terminal facilities
- Supervises, trains, mentors, and motivates subordinates
- Conducts safety meetings on subjects related to tasks performed by maintenance personnel
- Accounts for subordinates and personal compliance with all of Metro's safety rules, polices, and procedures

Minimum QualificationsA combination of education and/or experience that provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities to perform the essential functions of the position. Additional experience, as outlined below, may be substituted for required education on a year-for-year basis. A typical combination includes:
Education - Bachelor's Degree in Business, Public Administration, or a related field
Experience - Two years of relevant transit stops and zones experience OR two years of relevant supervisory experience in transit operations; traffic engineering experience preferred
Certifications/Licenses/Special Requirements - Valid California Class C Driver License

- Metro bus stop standards and procedures
- Supervisory principles and procedures
- Applicable business software applications and web mapping service, such as Google Maps

- Planning, organizing, and monitoring the work of a maintenance department
- Sketching stops and zones using fundamental drafting techniques
- Dealing with hazards regarding bus stops

Pension Plan- PTSC retirement plan is the Public Employees' Retirement System (PERS). Vesting is five (5) years. Minimum retirement age is 52, based on the 2% at 62 formula.
