ResponsibilitiesWhat you'll be doing:
- Performing extensive case documentation in the state database, meeting all mandated requirements, and preparing court reports
- Assessing allegations of child abuse/neglect and monitoring child/youth risk and safety through direct, honest conversations with families and professionals
- Collaborating with law enforcement, schools, medical providers, mental health agencies, and other service organizations
- Facilitating treatment planning with families and their support networks to address safety and risk concerns
- Advocating for families and children, testifying in court, and de-escalating potentially volatile situations
- Traveling daily within the community and to homes for visits, both inside and outside of Larimer County
- Working in the field, in the office, remotely, and in court as needed
- Participating in both individual and group supervision
- Managing complex cases involving substance use, mental health challenges, domestic violence, multi-generational poverty, child abuse/neglect, and sexual abuse

- Strong critical thinking skills and the ability to make sound, difficult decisions
- Flexibility to accommodate frequent evening hours, holidays, and weekends for crisis response and family needs
- Professional communication skills, both written and verbal
- Ability to build effective working relationships with County staff, partner agencies, and community members
- Understanding of laws and regulations related to child welfare, including the Colorado Children’s Code and Volume VII
- Capacity to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive information appropriately

- Credibility and professionalism when testifying in court
- Bilingual in Spanish preferred
QualificationsDepending on qualifications, this position may be hired as a Social Case Worker I or II.

Social Caseworker I Qualifications:
- Bachelor's Degree from a higher education institution with coursework related to the job responsibilities of social caseworker required. Coursework examples can include and are not limited to, the development of human development and behavior, family intervention techniques, diagnostic measures, or therapeutic techniques.
- Possession of a valid Driver's License by date of hire required.
- Completion of certification from the State training academy prior to the end of the nine month probationary term is required.
- Upon employment, must maintain annual continuing education hours and state training requirements.
Social Caseworker II Qualifications:
- One (1) year of experience as a Social Caseworker I with Larimer County, or as a professional social caseworker in either a public or private agency, after obtaining a qualifying degree required. A Master's Degree in an appropriate field as defined below may substitute for experience.
- Bachelor's Degree from a higher education institution with coursework related to the job responsibilities of social caseworker required. Coursework examples can include and are not limited to, the development of human development and behavior, family intervention techniques, diagnostic measures, or therapeutic techniques.
- Possession of a valid Driver's License by date of hire required.

You will also be required to have adequate internet access and space for remote work. Larimer County provides an annual remote work stipend to assist with equipment and office supply needs for remote workspaces.
Office hours for this position will be located at one of the following three locations: 1501 Blue Spruce Drive, Fort Collins, CO 2555 Midpoint Drive, Fort Collins, CO 200 Peridot Avenue, Loveland, CO.
