    THE POSITION
    We invite you to join the high performing team at the Town of Prescott Valley, serving as a Deputy Court Clerk in the Magistrate Court. This position provides general clerical and specialized legal support work to the Magistrate Court, general public, and attorneys, providing professional, and efficient customer service.

    Examples of Duties

    In this position you will:
    • Provide first line customer service to internal and external customers; greet, receive and screen visitors and customers, addressing and resolving customer questions as able, and referring complex inquiries, requests, or complaints to appropriate staff.


    • Assist the public, attorneys and other agencies with information, completing forms, filings, and Court rules.


    • Assist with daily case management of Court files, including creating and maintaining computer records, and complying with statutes. Assist the magistrate in court by recording and dispensing information as requested, calling jurors, and providing related clerical support.


    • Process invoices, receipt payments for fines, fees and forfeitures using Court-approved financial software.


    • Maintain electronic, paper filing, record systems to provide easy access to records and information; provide retention of records as required by Town and State policies.


    Typical Qualification

    Needs to have/ be:
    • High School diploma or equivalent with a minimum of two (2) years of experience in a legal support or similar function.


    • Ability to pass a pre-employment background.


    • Ability to read statutory language regarding administrative details of the legal process.

    PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
    • Bilingual in Spanish (testing required)

    SKILLS TESTING:
    All candidates interviewed will undergo skills testing

    Compensation:

    The Town's complete compensation package includes salary, benefits, and a high-performance culture. The Town package includes a health, dental and vision insurance plan, participation in the state retirement system, optional 457 deferred compensation with town match up to 6%, vacation, holidays, and additional comprehensive benefits.

    The expected hiring range is $21.70-$22.79.

    The full hourly range is $21.70-$30.38.

    Part-time regular employees:
    • General Leave: 125 hours the first 5 years then increasing after 5 years.
    • Holidays: Eleven (11) paid holidays prorated
    • Workers' Compensation: Southwest Risk Insurance; Subsidizes lost wages and provides medical benefits as mandated by the state for on the job work related illness or injuries.
    • Direct Deposit: Paychecks are deposited directly into the employee's bank account(s) on a bi-weekly schedule.
