    A vacancy currently exists for a Investigator III position within the Division of Adult Institutions and will have the primary responsibility of supervising investigators in the Western Region. Weekend and night travel may be required on rare occasions.

    Domicile location may be discussed at time of interview.

    This investigative unit will focus on criminal activity of facility residents that may involve dangerous drug contraband, serious assaults, and security threat group activities.

    This is a professional position tasked with supervising criminal investigations related to the criminal behaviors of offenders housed in MDOC facilities.

    This position requires knowledge of current investigative techniques and procedures to include interviewing, evidence collection and documentation of case information.

    Successful candidates must have the ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with department officials, law enforcement officials, prosecutors, other state agencies, and the general public. The position will be domiciled in the Eastern or Western Region depending on the area assigned and travel throughout the state will be required.

    Minimum Qualifications:

    One or more years of experience as an Investigator II with the Missouri Uniform Classification and Pay System; AND possession of a high school diploma or proof of high school equivalency OR

    Seven or more years of experience in civil, administrative, or criminal investigations (non-clerical), such as tax fraud, licensing, environmental, client care, public assistance, insurance, or military; or experience as a law enforcement officer with responsibility of conducting investigations.

    (Earned credit hours from an accredited college or university, that includes earned credit hours in criminal justice, law enforcement, criminology, business administration, social science, environmental science, or related field, may substitute for up to four years of the required experience, at a rate of 30 credit hours for one year - a minimum of three years of experience is required)

    Some positions are eligible for a shift differential of $173.34 semi-monthly, which is provided to employees with shifts that begin on or between 12:00pm (noon) and 5:00am, and who work at a 24/7 worksite (i.e. institution, transition center, supervision center, or command center), or whose work requires regular visits to these locations. If selected for interview, eligibility may be discussed at that time with the hiring manager.

    The Department of Corrections currently offers a guaranteed 1% pay increase for every two years of continuous service up to 20 years!
