Job Summary
Starting Salary:
Laboratory Analyst I $23.88 - $30.45
Laboratory Analyst II $25.21 - $32.15
Performs technical work in the collection and analysis of wastewater samples. Work is performed under the supervision of the Laboratory Supervisor. Work is reviewed to assure that established policies and standards are maintained on the basis of observation, conferences, analysis of results, and evaluation of lab reports.
Laboratory Analyst I
Minimum Qualifications:
Bachelor's Degree in Science, Chemistry, or related field and one (1) year of laboratory experience; or an equivalent combination of related education, training, and experience.
Laboratory Analyst II
Minimum Qualifications:
Bachelor's Degree in Science, Chemistry, or related field and two (2) years of laboratory experience, one (1) year of which must have been in environmental chemistry ; or an equivalent combination of related education, training, and experience. Must demonstrate proficiency in all phases of general lab work.
Additional Qualifications for Promotion:
Promotions are not to be considered an automatic function of longevity and are subject to the review and authorization of the Supervisor. Last performance evaluation must have resulted in an overall meets standards rating or better with no goal rating of less than meets standards. Employee must have one (1) year experience in the Level 1 position with the City, the ability to perform required tests, and recommendation of appropriate Management Personnel.

If this posting indicates a degree is required, the following experience will apply in lieu of any degree as follows:- Two (2) years of direct experience for an associate degree;
- Four (4) years of direct experience for a bachelor's degree;
- Six (6) years of direct experience for a master's degree; or
- Nine (9) years of direct experience for a doctoral degree.
