    The Position

    Budget Analysts prepare and implement budgets including the development of expenditure projections, narrative justification of programs, and detailed biennial spending plans; review and analyze budget requests and adjustments; and ensure compliance with budgetary directives, policies, regulations and limitations.

    This position is located in Carson City and may travel up to 20%. The Budget Analyst 2 position is responsible for a variety of duties in the fiscal management branch of the Nevada Division of Environmental Protection. These duties include oversight of several complex budget accounts, including budget preparation and management, budget account maintenance reconciliation, accounting, auditing, fiscal forecasting, grant management, draws, and reporting. The incumbent will also be responsible for the development of expenditure projections; narrative justification of programs; detailed biennial spending plans; the review and analysis of budget requests and adjustments; ensuring compliance with budgetary directives, policies, regulations, and limitations; and development and review of work programs for submission for Division approval. Incumbents work with NDEP programs and Administration and act as a liaison between NDEP and other State Agencies including the Executive Budget Office and Legislative Council Bureau on all assigned Division budget matters.

    To Qualify:

    In order to be qualified, you must meet the following requirements:
    Education and Experience (Minimum Qualifications) Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university in business or public administration, accounting, finance, economics, or closely related field and three years of professional budgeting, accounting, economic or management analysis and projection, staff analyst or auditing experience, one year of which was equivalent to a Budget Analyst I in Nevada State service; OR an equivalent combination of education and experience as described above. Special Notes A pre-employment criminal history check and fingerprinting will be required of the selected applicant. Special Requirements A valid driver's license or evidence of equivalent mobility is required at the time of appointment and as a condition of continued employment. On October 31, 1864, President Lincoln proclaimed Nevada's admission to the Union as the 36th state. The State's first elected Governor, Henry Blasdel, took office on December 5, 1864.

    Today, Nevada is the nation's seventh largest state in land area. Several hundred mountain ranges cross its landscape, many with elevations over 10,000 feet. In contrast, the State's lowest point (along the Colorado River) is only 470 feet above sea level. From majestic mountains to desert valleys, nature has endowed Nevada with diverse and unique ecosystems.
