    Overview

    Larimer County is hiring a Program Coordinator to support the Adult Education and Literacy Act (AELA) Program with the Economic and Workforce Development department!

    The Program Coordinator will play a key role in launching and sustaining high-quality instructional services for adult learners, ensuring instructional alignment with AELA program goals and adult education best practices. As part of the program launch, the Program Coordinator will contribute to establishing procedures, creating training materials, and fostering a supportive learning environment that promotes learner engagement and success. In addition to coordinating the tutoring program, this position will also serve as the primary tutor, providing direct instruction to adult learners.

    This Limited Term position typically requires 20 to 29 hours per week in person.

    Responsibilities

    What you'll be doing:
    • Developing and implementing instructional services aligned with AELA program goals, ensuring the use of best practices in adult education and learner-centered methodologies.
    • Coordinating and delivering tutoring services to adult learners by serving as the primary tutor and overseeing the recruitment, training, and scheduling of volunteer tutors.
    • Establishing and maintaining program procedures for instructional delivery, learner support, and volunteer engagement during the program launch and beyond.
    • Creating and facilitating training materials and workshops for tutors and staff, promoting high-quality instruction and consistent program standards.
    • Monitoring and evaluating program effectiveness by collecting data, analyzing learner outcomes, and recommending improvements to instructional strategies and program services.
    • Maintaining accurate program records and reports, including tracking learner progress, tutor activity, and budgetary or grant-related documentation.
    • Serving as a liaison between the AELA program and community partners, county departments, and stakeholders to enhance program visibility and resource development.
    • Supporting and guiding program staff and volunteers by providing task direction, performance input, and mentoring to ensure successful delivery of services.

    What we're looking for:
    • Knowledge of general office practices and procedures to support effective administration, accurate record keeping, and smooth communication workflows.
    • Proficiency in common software and business applications, including word processing, spreadsheets, presentation tools, email systems, and databases (e.g., Microsoft Office, Google Workspace).
    • Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to interact professionally and clearly with staff, learners, volunteers, and community partners.
    • Ability to interpret and apply policies, procedures, regulations, and guidelines from the department, County, and adult education programs.
    • Skill in developing and maintaining collaborative relationships with County staff, educators, community organizations, and adult learners from diverse backgrounds.
    • Consistent reliability and punctuality, with a track record of regular attendance and dependable program coordination.
    • Understanding of program development and administration, including conducting needs assessments, designing curriculum, implementing services, and evaluating performance.
    • Familiarity with relevant laws, regulations, and guidelines related to adult education, workforce development, and public program administration, and the ability to apply them effectively in daily operations.
    • Working knowledge of High School Equivalency (HSE) subject areas, including Mathematics, Writing, Reading, Social Studies, and Science.
    • Ability to use a variety of instructional tools and methods tailored to individual learner needs.
    • Understanding of current HSE test requirements, including format, subject matter, and assessment standards.


    Qualifications

    • Three (3) years experience in a directly related field or in the performance of similar duties.
    • Possess reliable transportation to be able to work in any County facility as needed and required.
