Job Announcement

The City of Chandler Community Services Department is currently seeking qualified individuals interested in joining our team as Library Assistants. This is a regular, part-time, non-exempt position with benefits located at the Downtown Library Branch in the Circulation Department. The branch is open seven days a week, including three evenings. This 20-hour-per-week role may include evening and weekend shifts.

Library
Chandler Public Library inspires intellectual discovery, creative entertainment, and lifelong learning through robust information resources that connect communities to a world of knowledge and new ideas. As a system of four libraries in all geographic areas of the community and a collection of nearly 500,000 books, DVDs, and a wide variety of digital resources, we bring people, information, and ideas together to read, learn, connect, and succeed. Who we are looking for

Our new team member will have a passion for customer service, teamwork, and collaboration. We are looking for someone to perform a wide variety of general technical, clerical, and library work, including circulation, customer service, transportation of items between branches, directional/basic reference assistance, call center coverage, and basic, processing-level collection duties. This job differs from the next higher classification level because it does not perform professional or paraprofessional library work associated with specialized degrees, training, or library functions and programs.

Minimum qualifications

• Some High School, and

• 1 year of customer service experience involving frequent public contact; and

• A valid Driver's License with an acceptable driving record; or

• Any equivalent combination of experience and training that provides the knowledge and abilities to perform the work.

This is a regular full-time position, subject to a 6-month probationary period. A register of qualified candidates will be active for 4 months, should another position become available.
