Description: JOB DESCRIPTION SUMMARY: The
Truck Driver Senior operates heavy trucks, tractor-trailers, and other heavy equipment used in the construction, maintenance, and repair of county roads and right-of-ways . Haul construction materials and transport equipment to various sites throughout the county using assigned tractor-trailers, lowboys, and trucks with a high degree of competency, skill, and proficiency . Assist with manual labor for asphalt roads, gravel roads, and culvert maintenance, repair and construction. Respond to emergencies and snow removal operations 24 hours a day, seven days a week, by reporting to an assigned shop within one hour of being called.
SCHEDULE: This is a full-time position operating on a 4 0 hour work week .
COMPENSATION: Hiring Range: $30-31 USD Hourly
Compensation will be determined based on education, experience and skills.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES: - Operate a tractor-trailer or truck and trailer combination, water truck, plow truck, and other heavy equipment in preparation of construction and maintenance operations.
- Securely load materials and all equipment on lowboy trailers, safely transport to work sites throughout the County, and carefully unload the materials and equipment. Ensure equipment arrives at the site in a safe operating condition.
- Safely perform equipment recovery operations using specialized winch and cable equipment.
- Understand and follow the rules and regulations pertaining to loaded weight, overweight, and oversize transport and permitting.
- Ensure roads are clear during snow events performing snow and ice control and sweeping operations.
- Perform equipment and vehicle pre/post-trip inspections as defined by federal guidelines and inspect other items affecting safe operations. Perform routine cleaning and minor maintenance, as necessary.
- Inspect and prepare all equipment for use by performing routine maintenance and minor repairs on trucks and equipment, including fueling, cleaning, lubricating, and changing tires. Plan and request maintenance service and repair for specific equipment. Prepare equipment for specific uses by making necessary modifications.
- Report incidents, accidents, traffic violations, damage to equipment, vehicles, and utilities.
- Must adhere to all relative policies and procedures.
- Ensure the various components of the Road & Bridge Safety Management Program are adhered to including the proper use of PPE. Ensure a safe environment consistent with regulatory and organizational requirements and needs.
- Perform other duties, including flagging and setting up traffic control devices to ensure work zone requirements are met.
- Keep time, activity, mileage records, and material logs .
- Must be available to respond to emergencies and snow removal operations 24 hours a day, seven days a week, by reporting to your assigned shop within one hour of being called.
- Responsible for assisting with the basic development and training of fellow employees.
- Perform other duties as assigned at varying locations.

Minimum Qualifications:
Experience: Three years
Education: High School Diploma or GED
License/Certifications: - Valid Driver’s License for 2 consecutive years prior to hire date. If from out of state, must obtain a Colorado Driver’s License within 30 days of hire
- Must possess a valid Class A Commercial Driver’s License (CDL) with Air Brake restriction removed as well as a valid Department of Transportation (DOT) medical card by the time of hire.
- Must have Tanker endorsement within 30 days of hire
- May be required to obtain Flagger, Traffic Control Supervisor, Stormwater Management, and/or Erosion Control certifications.
- Respond to emergencies operations 24 hours a day, seven days a week, and report to an assigned shop within one hour of being called
*Note: An equivalent combination of education and experience is acceptable.
Preferred knowledge, skills and abilities :
- Experience with road construction or maintenance
- Experience with asphalt operations
- Experience with public works
Additional Job Information: - Must pass a pre-employment physical, drug screen, background check, and Motor Vehicle Record check.
- Must be at least 18 years old by hire date.
- May be required to obtain a Hazmat endorsement.
- To be considered, you must not have any major violations, nor DUI, DWI, DWAI in the past three years.
