    Introduction

    Scottsdale’s Office of Communication & Citizen Service is seeking a creative, self-motivated and innovative Video Production Assistant to support the development of high-quality digital content. This role involves filming and editing short and long-from videos in alignment with the city’s brand standards for use across a variety of platforms including Scottsdale’s social media channels, website and other digital outlets. The Video Production Assistant will collaborate with multiple city departments to develop storyboards and assist with shot framing, audio and lighting setup. This position plays a key role in visually communicating programs, events and capital improvement projects throughout Scottsdale to residents, staff and city officials.
    Anticipated starting salary may be up to mid-point depending on candidate’s experience and internal equity. The midpoint salary is $30.13 per hour.

    Minimum Qualifications

    Education and Experience
    • An Associate's Degree in Video Production, Television Production or Digital Media or a related field of study from an accredited educational institution.
    • Any equivalent combination of education and/or job-related experience that meets the minimum qualifications may be substituted.

    Licensing, Certifications and Other Requirements
    • Must possess and maintain a valid, unrestricted Arizona driver's license with no major citations within the past 39 months prior to the start date.
    • Every person employed by the City of Scottsdale shall reside in the State of Arizona during his or her active employment by the City, regardless of whether the employee is approved to remote work.

    Other pertinent licenses and or certifications may be required of some positions based on department/section assignment.

    Essential Functions

    • Operates video switcher, audio mixer, remote cameras and character generator during live coverage of public meetings to assure technical production quality.
    • Writes, directs, shoots and/or edits video productions for the city and city departments.
    • Maintains equipment, including studio, video production, video servers, control rooms, and editing suites.
    • Performs post production activities including editing, graphics and special effects.
    • Assures that all audio and video outputs meet industry standards and FCC guidelines.
    • Operates a motor vehicle to shoot videos at various city locations.

    • Most work is performed in a City office environment with occasional on location work.
    • Bend and stoop to work in small cramped areas.
    • Work at heights higher than 10 ft.
    • Lift and move heavy equipment of up to 50 pounds to work sites.
    • Access paved, gravel, turf or rough uneven areas.
    • Visual and muscular dexterity to operate equipment, cords, audio and video equipment and hand cart.
    • Exposure to dirt, dust, pollen, noise, inclement weather, temperature extremes, darkness, traffic hazards, and unpleasant odors.
    • Operate a variety of standard office equipment including a computer, telephone, copy and fax machine requiring continuous and repetitive arm, hand, and eye movement.
    • Operate a motor vehicle and travel to/from meetings and various city locations.
    • Work evening and weekend hours as needed.
