    Minimum Qualifications
    Education and/or Equivalent Experience:
    • Associate’s degree, plus two (2) years of public event or other related experience in a convention center, public assembly/event facility or other related facility/industry.
    • Completion of thirty (30) semester college hours may substitute for one (1) year of the required education with a maximum substitution of two (2) years.
    • Experience may substitute for the education up to the maximum of two (2) years


    Licenses or Certifications:
    • Appropriate level of driver’s license as specified for the individual’s job.

    Driving Requirement:


    This position requires a valid Texas Class “C” Driver License or the ability to acquire one by your hire date. External New Hires must meet the City of Austin’s Driver Record Evaluation ( DRE ) requisite . To be considered for a driving position, applicants cannot have more than three moving violations or a total of six Driver Record Evaluation points within a period of thirty-six (36) months.

    Essential Personnel:
    This has been designated as an Essential Employee position. In the event of a city-designated extraordinary situation or emergency condition, essential employees provide services that impact the public health, safety, utility services, and welfare of members of the Austin community and other employees, as well as ensure the continuity of essential operations. Essential Employees may be called back in during such events, required to modify their schedule, assigned to a city-designated work site, or retained on-site to assist with operations and recovery.

    The Austin Convention Center Department ( ACCD ) offers the following additional benefits to all ACCD employees:
    • Metro Pass for public transportation (Including Metro-Rail)
    • Metro-Rail stop right in front of our Convention Center facility
    Pay Range
    $22.22 - $24.77

    Hours
    • Schedule consists of four 10-hour shifts.
    • Hours are 9:00 p.m. - 7:00 a.m.
    • Workdays are on a rotating schedule

    Preferred Experience:
    • Experience with Computer Aided Dispatching ( CAD ) and Report Management Systems ( RMS )
    • Experience working with Security Systems; badging and identification, video and fire
    • Experience in working with and in an operations center.
    • Experience working in public/private assembly facilities and/or assisting in managing events involving large crowds, communicating to internal and external clients in a Public Facility environment.


    Duties, Functions and Responsibilities
    Essential duties and functions, pursuant to the Americans with Disabilities Act, may include the following. Other related duties may be assigned.


    1. Coordinates and assists clients with move-in and move-out activities.
    2. Communicates and works with Event Coordinator regarding status of event, event changes, special client/event needs, etc.
    3. Briefs and provides information and instructions to facility services staff to meet client/visitor needs.
    4. Answers visitor/client questions and provide assistance.
    5. Observes and enforces department/facility safety and operational policies and procedures
    6. Performs security and safety services. Monitors security and fire systems.
    7. Coordinates emergency response including evacuation process.
    8. Inspects and maintains equipment/vehicles for needed repairs and maintenance.

    9. Acts as point of contact in the absence of Event Coordinator

    City Government
