HERE. There is a position available in the CAO Purchasing and Procurement Division. This recruitment will fill a current vacancy and establish an eligibility list for future openings, eliminating the need to repost. What's this Job All About? As a Purchasing Technician, you will handle purchasing requests from all County departments. Your responsibilities include, but are not limited to, the creation and disbursement of purchase orders; order tracking and verification upon delivery; obtaining quotes and negotiating with vendors; processing invoices; preparing contracts for the Board of Supervisors; and managing daily County mail, including delivery to the local USPS office. Additionally, the Purchasing Technician assists with contract preparation and management while adhering to the County's Purchasing Policy.
The Purchasing Technician reports to the Assistant CAO. While this position primarily involves independent work, there is a fantastic team within the CAO’s office ready to support you. The leadership has an open-door policy and is always willing to listen to concerns or new ideas.

QualificationsAny combination of experience and training that would likely provide the required knowledge and abilities is qualifying. A typical way to obtain the knowledge and abilities would be:
Experience: Two years of increasingly responsible clerical experience including one year related to the ordering, requisitioning, and/or purchasing of common materials and supplies.
Training: Equivalent to the completion of the twelfth grade supplemented by courses in bookkeeping, accounting or a related field.
Supplemental InformationThe salary range above consists of 15 steps. Steps 1-6 are annual merit steps with approximately 5% difference between each step, based on successful performance. Steps 7-15 are additional merit steps, requiring 2 years of satisfactory performance at the previous step. Steps 7-14 provide 2.5% increases, while Step 15 offers a 5% increase. The final salary offered will depend on the applicant's experience and qualifications, ranging from steps 1 to 15.
