    This position will be located at Montauk State Park, 345 County Road 6670, Salem, Missouri, 65560. The shifts for this position are typically Monday through Friday, 7:30 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. with a 30-minute lunch break. Schedule and shifts may vary with the time of year in order to meet facility operational needs. This position will be required to regularly rotate working on weekends from the end of February until the beginning of November. Working some nights, holidays, split shifts, emergencies, and special events may also be required. Must be available to participate in meetings, workshops and seminars requiring overnight stays.

    • Responsible for performing a variety of semi-skilled work in the alteration, maintenance, natural resource stewardship, and repair of state buildings and facilities.
    • Work in a variety of trade areas such as electrical, plumbing, carpentry, concrete, and masonry, painting, plastering, and mechanical repair in settings such as facilities, grounds, and cemeteries.
    • Routine cleaning of park buildings, restrooms, campsites, and park grounds.
    • Maintain a valid vehicle operator’s license to operate and maintain licensed vehicles, as well as tractors, mowers, skid steer, and other grounds related equipment.
    • Operate and maintain lawn mowers, tractors, skid loader, trucks, chainsaws, leaf blowers, and similar mechanical equipment.
    • Assist with prescribed burns, wildfire suppression, herbicide application, and other natural or cultural activities as directed with the completion of Level 1 Prescribed Fire training.
    • May also oversee a crew engaged in maintenance tasks.


    • This position is required to obtain and maintain a wastewater treatment operator certification and a distribution drinking water certification. If you do not currently possess these certifications, you will be given twelve months from the first day of employment to obtain necessary certifications.

    • Building and Construction : Knowledge of materials, methods, and the tools to construct objects, structures, and buildings.
    • Flexibility : Is open to change and new information; rapidly adapts to new information, changing conditions, or unexpected obstacles.


    Equivalent to those typically gained by:

    • 1 - 3 years of experience in any of the following trade areas: electrical, plumbing, concrete and masonry, carpentry, painting, plastering, and mechanical repair.
