    The Department of Social Services, Division of Legal Services (DLS) has an opening for a Managing Attorney of the Administrative Hearings Section, Child Support Unit.

    Semi-monthly Salary : $3,972.94

    Annual Salary: $95,350.56

    Job Location: This position will be located at 131 W. High Street, 2 nd Floor, Jefferson City, MO 65101.

    What you’ll do: The Managing Attorney’s primary responsibility will be managing offices that conduct administrative hearings for the Family Support Division regarding the establishment, modification and enforcement of child support hearings. This position will be responsible for supervising the work of 11 full-time Hearing Officers and four clerical. The Managing Attorney will also act as liaison between the Child Support Hearings Unit, Family Support Division and the Attorney General’s office. The Managing Attorney will also closely interact with the public.

    Additional duties of this position include, but are not limited to :

    • Report to the Chief of Administrative Hearings and the Direction of the Division of Legal Services;

    • Closely track and monitor appeals of the Administrative Hearings Child Support Unit decisions in circuit or appellate courts.

    • Ensure that administrative hearings are provided fairly, accurately, timely, and in accordance with law;

    • Assist the Chief of Administrative Hearings in overall program direction, articulation of policies and procedures, establish priorities, and administer the hearing process of the Child Support Unit;

    • Assist the Chief of Administrative Hearings in collecting and maintaining accurate performance and outcome measures for the Child Support Unit;

    • Research, review and evaluate any legal issues pertaining to the Child Support Hearings Unit;

    • Draft state regulations related to Child Support Hearings

    • Fiscal review of legislation related to Child Support matters

    • Other duties as assigned.

    Minimum Qualifications:

    The candidate must be a member in good standing of the Missouri Bar, and licensed to practice law five years or more. In addition to those having excellent research and writing skills, preference will be given to lawyers who have experience practicing in the area of child support, family law, and administrative law. One year or more of DSS Division of Legal Service experience is preferred, but not required.

    Preferred Qualifications : Knowledge of and experience with child support, family law, and / or administrative law. Knowledge of and experience with drafting state regulations. Two or more years of managerial experience is preferred.

    Pursuant to State Law, this position requires accreditation, licensure, and/or professional license which is only available to holders of specific post-secondary degrees.
