Full-time position available with the General Services Department, IT Division, located at 4800 E 63rd St.
Salary Range: $27.25-$40.88/hour
Normal Work Days/Hours: Monday-Friday 8:0 0a.m.-5:00 p.m.

Responsibilities
- Serves as a professional staff position within the IT department, leading and performing work of a unit engaged in varied computer operations and architecture projects.
- Coordinates work activities with other City departments.
- Works under limited supervision.
- Participates in projects and activities related to City computer systems, data, and infrastructure.
- Performs related activities and makes recommendations in areas that require a high level of technical competency.
- Provides technical support to end-users, diagnosing and resolving hardware, software, and network issues.
- Directs small projects in a competent fashion.
- Provides instruction to assigned team to effectively accomplish assigned projects.
- Provides task direction, as necessary.
- Follows appropriate processes and procedures for assigned projects.
- Makes significant contributions to the success of projects by applying demonstrated knowledge. Performs technical review of work performed by project team.
- Anticipates hardware and software needs and make recommendations related to the acquisition of such.
- Installs and maintains hardware and software in accordance with prescribed procedures.
- Plans and executes software testing to ensure the functionality and performance of applications.
- Compares testing results with provided documentation to identify and resolve any discrepancies.
- Participates in selecting and implementing operation systems and architecture improvements.
- Works closely with other IT professionals such as software engineers, data analysts and network administrators to ensure seamless technology operations.
- Creates and maintains documentation for IT systems and processes.
- Analyzes problems, determines cause and initiates corrective action in areas that require an expert level of technical competency.
- Utilizes interpersonal and communication skills to train, instruct and educate groups and individuals in a team environment.
- Provides technical expertise to other members of the team for their technical development.
- Recommends process or procedure changes.
- Participates in process and quality improvement.
- Follows through on commitments made to customers.
- Assures that customer requirements are met.
- Works effectively with peers, team members, and other departments.
- Performs related work as required.
Qualifications
REQUIRES an accredited Bachelor's degree and 2 years of technology experience; OR an equivalent combination of education and technology experience.

For positions with a salary grade of EX6 or higher that require an accredited degree, qualifying professional experience must be obtained AFTER the accredited degree is obtained.
Successful completion of a pre-employment criminal history/background check is required for all positions. Some positions require a post offer drug screen and/or physical.
If appointed, non-residents must obtain residency inside Kansas City, Missouri's city limits within nine months.
