    Job Summary

    The City of Greenville is looking for a Custodial Crew Leader in our Recreation and Parks Department. This position will direct and lead in the maintenance, repair, and upkeep of parks, buildings and grounds, supervises custodial personnel, and performs related work as required.

    FLSA Exemption Status: Non-Exempt

    Examples of Duties

    • Cleans and maintains parks, buildings, and grounds ;
    • Trains and instructs custodial workers in proper custodial and safety methods; assigns employees to accomplish assigned tasks;
    • Operates a variety of custodial equipment and light automotive equipment;
    • Maintains the inventory of cleaning supplies;
    • Makes minor repairs; reports repairs beyond the capabilities of custodial workers to supervisor;
    • Transports mail and other materials as needed;
    • Makes deliveries and runs errands;
    • Moves furniture, equipment, and heavy boxes as needed;
    • Opens and secures buildings;
    • Assists in event set-ups;
    • Performs other related duties as assigned.


    Minimum Qualifications

    Education and Experience:
    • High school diploma or GED; AND
    • Two years experience in custodial or related field.
    • Lead worker or supervisory experience preferred but not required.

    KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:

    Knowledge of:
    • materials, methods, and practices used in cleaning and related custodial operations;
    • hazards and safety methods related to custodial operations.
    Ability to:
    • understand and follow oral and written instructions;
    • perform lifting and cleaning tasks;
    • supervise assigned custodial workers;
    • train employees in cleaning and related work;
    • establish and maintain good working relationships with other City employees and the public.


    Special Requirements

    • Valid North Carolina driver's license and acceptable driving record.
    • Normal work hours for this position are 6:00 am to 2:30 pm. This also requires working a flexible schedule to cover meetings, special events, tournaments, inclement weather, and emergency callbacks.
