    This position will be located at 1730 E. Elm Street, Jefferson City, MO with the Missouri Department of Natural Resources, Division of Environmental Quality, Superfund Section, Remedial Project Management Unit.

    • Perform project management for assigned sites in accordance with the Comprehensive Environmental Response, Compensation, and Liability Act, and other federal and state laws and regulations.
    • Coordinate and oversee all aspects of site investigation and cleanup, and assure effective and efficient planning and conduct of project work.
    • Manage complex, special, high profile and/or large scope/cost projects.
    • Prepare or critically evaluate project documents pertaining to site investigation and cleanup.
    • Apply relevant statistical methods to the interpretation and utilization of gathered data.
    • Represent the Section, Department, and State of Missouri in workgroups that prepare technical guidance and/or make policy recommendations based on technical knowledge.
    • Participate in technical and public meetings, negotiations, site visits, sampling events, and other field activities.
    • Coordinate and communicate site activities with other department staff and management, the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency, other federal, state, and local government agencies, regulated community, and the public.
    • Respond to inquiries as needed and perform other duties as assigned.


    To be successful in this position, a candidate will need the following skills:

    • Environmental Science: Knowledge of the concepts, principles, theories, and methods to protect and improve the quality of the environment and its resources; and to monitor, control, abate, and prevent pollutants.
    • Computer: Ability to operate a computer and standard word processing, database, and spreadsheet software.
    • Technical Competence: Ability to comprehend, interpret, and apply laws, regulations, policies, guidance procedures, maps, plans, and reports.
    • Vehicle Operation: Knowledge of procedures for operating motor vehicles.


    Equivalent to those typically gained by:

    • Environmental Program Assistant: Bachelor’s degree in environmental science, chemistry, or geology, and 0-1 year of relevant experience.
    • Environmental Program Analyst: Bachelor’s degree in environmental science, chemistry, or geology, and 2-4 years of relevant experience.
