    About the University:

    California State University Channel Islands (CSUCI) opened in 2002 as the newest campus in the California State University system.     CSUCI is a public comprehensive university that engages students in critical inquiry and is dedicated to educating leaders for a global society. The University is located in Ventura County and is home to more than 4,959 undergraduate and 168 graduate students. Approximately 48% of CSUCI’s students are Pell Grant eligible, and approximately 60% are first-generation college students. CSUCI is also proud to be designated as a Hispanic-Serving Institution (HSI), with 61% of its undergraduate students self-identifying as Latinx, 23% as White, 6% as Asian/Asian American, 4% as multiracial, and 2% as Black/African American.     About the Program:

    The Martin V. Smith School of Business & Economics at CSU Channel Islands provides students with an exceptional education in business and economics that prepares students to effectively engage with the ever-changing landscapes of organizations today. Faculty members in the Martin V. Smith School of Business & Economics follow a teacher/scholar model in accordance with AACSB standards.

    About the Position:

    The Martin V. Smith School of Business & Economics seeks a pool of qualified applicants for temporary part-time teaching assignments in Finance. These positions are filled on an as-needed basis and recruitment is ongoing. Assignments include evening and online courses and may include weekend courses. Assignments may also require administering assessments and collecting/submitting assessment data.

    Minimum Degree Requirements:

    Three or more graduate courses in finance in addition to professional credentials related to personal finance.

    Required Qualifications:

    • Demonstrated preparation for teaching Finance at a university level;
    • Applicants should demonstrate the commitment to effectively work with and engage a diverse student population and evidence of how they would successfully mentor students with special focus on Latinx, Black/African American, American Indian, and Asian/Asian American/Pacific Islander students.
    • Certified Financial Planner (CFP) professional certification or the equivalent, CPA, CMA, CFA, Series 7


    Preferred Qualifications:

    • PhD in finance or PhD in any business discipline;
    • 5+ years full-time finance work experience;
    • A record of effective teaching with a variety of methodologies;
    • Work/consulting experience in private or public sector related to Business & Economics and Financial Planning.


    Responsibilities:

    • Teach one or more classes as assigned and as student demand allows. Conduct and turn in assessment activities as outlined each semester.

    Compensation:

    California State University Lecturer Salary (Academic Year) Schedules can be found at

    Placement into a range is based on qualifications and experience. Initial assignments are typically at the bottom third of the salary range. The full-time (15 units per semester) monthly base salaries indicated in the schedules above are prorated to the number of units worked and are paid in six monthly payments for each full semester.
