District School Security Officer

Responsibilities:
- Serve as a visible and active presence on campus, addressing behavior, safety, and social concerns
- Conduct routine patrols of school facilities, including buildings and parking areas
- Operate security systems such as alarms and surveillance equipment
- Provide guidance and support to students to help maintain a positive educational environment
- Coordinate security efforts for extracurricular events and crowd management
- Collaborate with local law enforcement on incidents that could impact school safety
- Complete reports, logs, and documentation accurately and on time
Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Armed Security Guard Certification in the state of Washington
- Post hire, able to complete state required District School Security Officer (DSSO) Training Program
- Minimum of three (3) years of armed security experience, preferably in an educational campus environment
- Must be 21 years of age or older, if required by the state
- Critical thinking skills
- Demonstrated ability to exercise sound judgement and handle sensitive matters with discretion
- Excellent oral and written interpersonal communication skills
- Ability to mediate conflict with tact and diplomacy
Preferred Qualifications:
- Law enforcement or military experience
