Click here for more information on SRC for Firefighters (Secondary) Responsibilities Direct fire-fighting operations until the arrival of the Fire Chief by getting properly manned equipment to the scene, spotting equipment and assuring proper hook-up and operation. Supervise drills and participates in conducting training courses/lectures to arsenal employees, volunteer fire departments, and the general public on fire prevention, hazardous materials, fire protection, ambulance services, etc. Respond to hazardous materials incidents and ensures special, safe and proper procedures are used. Direct Emergency Medical Service ambulance response. Assign work to meet schedules and deadlines for regular and peak loads and priorities; makes changes in organization of work to improve workflow and increase productivity. Recommend disciplinary action and receives formal grievances, resolving those that can be resolved. Serve as cardholder for the Government Card Program to purchase organization supplies and services according to established contracting procedures. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student; social). You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Your resume must clearly describe your relevant experience; if qualifying based on education, your transcripts will be required as part of your application. Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes (1) Leading and/or directing assigned personnel in firefighting activities, such as: search and rescue, HAZMAT incidents, crash/rescue operations and medical emergencies; (2) Coordinating developmental and training needs of subordinate firefighters; and (3) Preparing detailed reports requested by higher authority such as: training, incidents and inspections. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the second lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-09). In addition to meeting the specialized experience requirement above, applicants must also possess the below listed certifications certified through DoD Fire and Emergency Services Certification System, International Fire Service Accreditation Congress (IFSAC), or the Fire Service Professional Qualifications System (PRO-Board) in accordance with DoD 6055.06-M AND a State or National Registry EMT Certification Card indicating a future expiration date: Fire Officer III Fire Instructor II Fire Inspector II HazMat Incident Commander State or National Registry Emergency Medical Technician If your application package does not contain proof of having these certificates and license, your application will be marked as incomplete and you WILL NOT receive consideration for this position. Firefighter retirement coverage of the selectee depends upon his or her individual work history.
