Job Description

The Security Guard / Member Experience Associate is a security-first frontline position responsible for maintaining a safe, secure, and welcoming environment at the YMCA of Yonkers. Serving as the primary licensed security presence, this role helps protect members, staff, and visitors through proactive monitoring, incident prevention, and policy enforcement.

Working alongside the Member Experience team, this position also supports a positive member experience by assisting with front desk operations, providing information, and promoting a respectful, inclusive atmosphere where everyone feels welcome.

Qualifications

-High school diploma or equivalent required; some college preferred.
-Current New York State Security Guard License required, including required state training.
-Minimum of one year of security, law enforcement, or related experience preferred.
-Experience working in community-based, recreational, or public-facing facilities preferred.
-Ability to remain calm, observant, and professional in dynamic environments.
-Strong verbal communication and customer service skills.
-Basic computer proficiency.
-CPR/AED certification or ability to obtain within 30 days of hire.
-Bilingual English/Spanish preferred.

Essential Functions

-Maintain a visible security presence throughout the YMCA facility.
-Conduct documented security patrols and monitor entrances, exits, and restricted areas.
-Enforce YMCA policies, membership access procedures, and facility rules respectfully and consistently.
-Respond to incidents, emergencies, and safety concerns while coordinating with leadership and emergency responders as needed.
-Complete incident reports and security documentation accurately and promptly.
-Support emergency response procedures, including evacuations, medical incidents, and lockdown protocols.
-Assist with member check-in, access verification, and visitor wayfinding.
-Support Welcome Center operations during busy periods while maintaining a security-first focus.
-Provide accurate information about YMCA programs and direct members to appropriate staff.
-Promote a safe, welcoming, and inclusive environment while modeling the YMCA's core values.
