Both staff and incarcerated individuals have opportunities to give back to the local surrounding communities through collaborative programs. MPCF is a minimum‑custody, male facility that houses approximately 1,150 incarcerated individuals. We focus on re‑entry efforts by providing treatment, work, education, and apprenticeship opportunities to help the success of our individuals returning to our communities.Preferred CharacteristicsUse interpersonal skills and appropriate communication to provide corrective action and guidance while maintaining a safe environment.Listen openly to incarcerated individuals' questions or grievances to help resolve or refer problems to appropriate staff.Communicate effectively both verbally and in writing.Work without supervision and make appropriate decisions.Manage multiple tasks, prioritize, and be flexible in work.Work with outside agencies, co‑workers, incarcerated individuals, and the public professionally.Possess creative thinking, self‑confidence, and strong role‑modeling.Become an essential team player with opportunities for growth.Provide input into treatment through reporting to treatment, medical, and education teams.Make an impact on the lives of incarcerated individuals during difficult moments.Participate in continuous training for professional development and personal growth.Join specialty teams such as Crisis Negotiation or Crisis Emergency Response.Opportunity for promotion.Typical ResponsibilitiesProvide security and care to incarcerated individuals, ensuring safety of inmates and staff, enforcing rules and regulations, maintaining order, escorting individuals, and supervising activities and programs.Patrol facilities, conduct security checks, inspect all areas for safety/security deficiencies, and search individuals, vehicles, packages, and living areas for contraband.Verify inmate population in an assigned area at regular or irregular intervals and participate in inmate counts.Observe inmate behaviour and interaction with staff, other inmates, and visitors.Interact continuously with inmates, assisting in problem‑solving skill development, providing positive reinforcement, and instituting corrective measures (informal counseling or sanctions, formal disciplinary action, or physical force) as authorized.Instruct inmates in policy, procedure, expectations, and assist in developing attitudes and skills for successful adaptation to institutional life.Supervise inmates' work assignments and evaluate work performance.Perform all work under the general supervision of a superior.What We OfferExcellent pay and benefits package including health, dental, flexible spending, and life insurance.
