Day Dispatcher

Mr. Greens has proudly grown into one of the largest privately-owned produce distributors in Texas. With deliveries 365-days a year, 7-days a week and multiple runs per day, Mr. Greens has set the gold standard for service. Mr. Greens serves a large variety of clients, including restaurants, hotels, country clubs, caterers, grocery stores and retail outlets.

Mr. Greens is looking for a highly motivated and dedicated Transportation Day Dispatcher. In this position, you will play a vital role in the service function of the company. The position is responsible for resolving escalated driver issues, working with clients and vendors to resolve concerns. Respond to any claims submitted by customers. Analyzing any errors committed and provide feedback for improving procedures in our transportation department.

Accountabilities:

  • Confirm all drivers have reported to work at the start of the shift. For any absent drivers, contact them immediately to confirm status and obtain an ETA.
  • Ensure all key drivers on early routes (departing before 5:00 AM) are dispatched on time.
  • Monitor daily routes to ensure delivery windows are being met.
  • Ensure all drivers are properly signed into their tablets.
  • Monitor all units, including truck units and key drops.
  • Monitor and respond to all emails in a timely manner.
  • Communicate with Sales when a driver is unable to complete a delivery.
  • Handle routing-related questions and coordinate any requested changes with the Transportation Manager and/or Sales team, confirming whether delivery windows can be accommodated.
  • Communicate any requests to adjust route order or prioritize specific customers back to Sales, confirming feasibility.
  • Learn and utilize Omnitracs for routing support.
  • Post updates in the Austin customer service chat when routes are delayed, including the reason for the delay.
  • Communicate delays caused by late departures (e.g., ongoing night pulling) to both Sales and in the customer service chat.
  • Oversee second runs to ensure routes are dispatched in a timely manner.

Qualifications:

  • High school education or equivalent
  • Experience with routing software and logistics preferred.
  • Demonstrate excellent communication skills (written, verbal, and listening)
  • Ability to multi-task and perform well in a fast paced.
  • Data entry experience
  • Operate with ownership, be a self-starter, and have a strong attention to detail.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Outlook
  • Critical analytical skills
  • Ability to adapt to change in accordance with the business needs of the company.
  • Flexibility to shift schedule and work overtime as needed by the business unit.
  • Must bring proven ability to maintain confidentiality and secure sensitive information.
  • Bilingual Preferred in English and Spanish
  • Effective time management and organizational skills
  • Ability to work independently and manage multiple tasks.

Physical Demands/ Work Environment

  • This position works in an office environment with low to moderate noise levels.
  • Individual sits for long periods of time while operating a keyboard and communicating via telephone.
  • May involve standing/walking as needed primarily on a level surface throughout the day.
  • May include lifting things up to 15-50 pounds, on occasion.
  • Directly report to the Transportation Manager.
