This recruitment will be used to fill multiple vacancies.Salary InformationFull-time - $5,523 – $5,948On‑call/Hourly - $31.74 – $34.18Full-time - $6,407 – $7,243 (CO2)On‑call/Hourly - $36.82 – $41.63 (CO2)QualificationsOne year of experience as a Department of Corrections (DOC) Corrections and Custody Officer, including completion of the CORE Academy and Correctional Officer Field Training Program.One year of experience as a Correctional Officer in adult or juvenile corrections with security functions equivalent to a DOC Corrections and Security Officer2.Graduation from high school or GED.Valid driver's license.Legal (Constitutional) right to carry a firearm.Pre‑employment drug testing and psychological evaluation required.On-Call PositionsOn‑call staff may work an average of 32‑40 hours per week, though no minimum hour guarantee is provided. They will attend 6 weeks of full‑time paid training immediately upon hire and may be considered for full‑time permanent or temporary vacancies as they occur. All correctional officers, including on‑call positions, receive a benefits package—medical, dental, vision, retirement, paid sick leave, holiday pay, and paid vacation—provided the worker completes at least 20 hours per week.Facility InformationThe Washington State Department of Corrections seeks motivated individuals for Correctional Officer 1 and/or 2 positions at the Wenatchee Valley Reentry Center (WVRC), located in Wenatchee, WA. WVRC is a minimum‑security, male‑and‑female facility staffed 24/7. The center was built in 2023 and began serving the community in 2024. It offers health care services, substance abuse treatment access, and a transit line. The facility provides 24/7 safety and security, food services, case management, and maintenance.ResponsibilitiesIn an adult correctional facility, Correctional Officers provide safety and security, control, direct, and monitor the activities and movement of incarcerated individuals. Officers maintain institutional security, regulate all movement in accordance with department methods and procedures, and model positive behavior to assist inmates in becoming productive members of society. Physical and mental conditioning and strong interpersonal communication skills are essential.
