Dispatcher, Water and Sewer work activities are not further divided into separate classes.
Duties
Field Operations Division Operates assigned frequency band radios and multi-line telephone system. Answers telephone to receive and transmit messages. Receive customer complaints and relay to appropriate management personnel through verbal, written and electronic communication. Demonstrates knowledge and use of computerized maintenance management system (CMMS) and related documentation procedures. Generate, research, and update service requests in work order system. Access the billing system for inquiries only. Serves as the primary contact for utility locate requests, both routine and emergency, by gathering pertinent information to facilitate requests prior to excavation for Louisiana 811 One Call, city crews, and private contractors. Serve as central communications liaison during emergency events and during inclement weather for the Department of Water & Sewerage and other entities within the City of Shreveport. Participates in self-improvement and training to stay current with the latest developments. Position is shift work and may be assigned to work daytime, evenings, nights, or weekends. Performs other duties as assigned or required.
Minimum Qualifications
1) High School Diploma or GED. 2) Valid State Vehicle Operator's License. 3) Demonstrated ability to perform assigned tasks. 4) Three (3) years' experience in dispatch or call center operations. Water and sewer experience preferred. 5) Ability to maintain harmonious working relationships. Able to communicate and assist people at all levels with tact and diplomacy; ability to execute approved work programs in normal and emergency situations. Attentive to detail to avoid errors. 6) Field Operation assignment: Valid Class 1 Water Distribution and Wastewater Collection Certificates issued by the State of Louisiana, Dept. of Health and Hospitals is preferred but not required.
