Using pre-established criteria to determine the best way to provide service to the customer. Assign runs to appropriate crews in a timely basis. Follow up with crews so that company goals, in regards to response times, are maintained. Maintain appropriate record keeping in the dispatch program and other documents that are required. Maintain an open line of communication between you and your supervisor. Successfully complete and maintain the Emergency Medical Dispatch certification. Complete administrative tasks as assigned. Participate in periodic and annual skill evaluations. Performs any other related duties as assigned. Be able to analyze problems and develop practical solutions. Be able to manage time in a multi-tasking environment. Be able to prioritize based on changing need. This position will report directly to the Dispatch Supervisor.Qualifications Requirements for the position include: Attention to detail, Ability to effectively communicate with others (written and verbal), Ability to use a personal computer and Microsoft Office based products, Effective problem solving techniques and the ability to handle a fluid work environment. Possesses leadership abilities and sound judgment, works well under pressure and able to use discretion when needed. Previous experience in the EMS field with a current certification as a Paramedic or EMT and/or scheduling background is preferred. Once obtained, a dispatcher must keep the Emergency Medical Dispatch certification active and current. Previous experience in a call taking center / environment is preferred. Strong customer service skills with a focus on communication, determination and organization. Simple reading, complex writing, basic math skills, judgment/decision making, and analysis/comprehension skills. Current or previous experience as an EMT or Paramedic is a plus.
