Without a doubt, this will be the most rewarding and meaningful work you'll ever find with a work family that is second to none!What You'll DoMaintain control of the institution to provide safety and security of the facility, inmates, staff, and general public by enforcing rules, regulations, policies, and procedures.Supervise and direct inmate activity in assigned areas of the facility.Assure the assigned area is clean, safe, and secure.Monitor and operate security controls, equipment, and computers.Operate automotive vehicles for perimeter security and transportation of inmates.Conduct inmate counts, security rounds, and searches.Complete required reports and serve on committees.Prevent escapes or incidents that threaten security.Use physical force, unarmed self‑defense, firearms, or other force to detain or secure inmates when necessary.QualificationsHigh school diploma or G.E.D.; must have a valid driver's license for transportation positions, or a commercial driver's license if required to operate commercial vehicles.Pass the Correction Officer Assessment or have successfully completed the assessment within the past 24 months.Current employees of the Ohio Department of Rehabilitation and Correction who have been certified as a correction officer also qualify.Probationary period of 365 days.CompensationStep 1 salary $24.88 per hour, increasing to $25.61 after six months. An additional $0.60 per hour is earned for working 2nd or 3rd shift.LocationToledo Correctional Institution, Lucas County, Ohio.#J-18808-Ljbffr
