Position OverviewCorrectional Officer – Pay Grade 10 – Full Time – Executive Branch | 40 hours per week. Base salary: $39,127.68 annually with Locality Premium of $5.23/hr and Shift/Weekend/Holiday premiums of $2.13/hr. Eligible for overtime pay.Key ResponsibilitiesMaintain control of the institution to ensure safety and security of inmates, staff, and the general public by enforcing rules, regulations, policies, and procedures.Supervise inmate activities in housing units, dining areas, recreation, and work areas.Attend to the medical, visitation, personal property, and recreational needs of inmates.Inspect and patrol the grounds for contraband, unauthorized personnel, and other security risks.Complete required reports and daily logs.Conduct inmate counts, security rounds, and searches.Ideal CandidateStrong communication skillsObservation skillsTeam playerAttention to detailAbility to work under pressureMinimum RequirementsEducation: High school graduate.Experience, Training, or Skills: None.Special Requirements: Must be at least twenty years old; possess and maintain a valid driver's license; complete the Department of Juvenile Justice Training Academy within six months of employment if assigned to Juvenile Justice.Working ConditionsWork environment is hazardous due to operating in a state correctional facility with convicted felons or in a juvenile detention facility.
