Campus Security Officer

Every campus runs on trust — and that trust starts with you. As a Campus Security Officer at GE Vernova, you are the first line of protection for our people, facilities, and operations. You will keep our site safe, respond when it matters most, and help create an environment where everyone can do their best work. This is a hands-on, always-on role for someone who takes pride in showing up, staying alert, and making a real difference every shift. This is a 3rd Shift position (10:00 PM – 6:00 AM), fully onsite in New York State.

What You'll Do
  • Protect the campus by maintaining access controls, conducting patrols, and using surveillance and security systems to detect and deter suspicious activity.
  • Respond to emergencies— including fires, spills, medical situations, motor vehicle accidents, flooding, and other on-site incidents — quickly and calmly.
  • Operate security technology, including computer-based surveillance, intrusion detection systems, access control platforms, fire protection systems, and patrol tour reporting tools.
  • Document and communicate by writing accurate incident reports and maintaining clear, professional communication via email and two-way radio.
  • Stay certified and compliant by keeping all required licenses, certifications, and authorizations current as required by federal, state, and local regulations — including a valid New York State motor vehicle operator's license.
Who We're Looking For

You are someone who is dependable, observant, and calm under pressure. You follow directions clearly, take your responsibilities seriously, and are comfortable spending long hours on your feet — inside and out.

Required:

  • High School Diploma or GED (A formal education beyond a high school diploma is a plus, but we are most interested in your experience and your ability to do the job well)
  • Current, valid New York State Security Guard License (including completion of required 16-hour course)
  • Valid New York State motor vehicle operator's license (required to operate GE-owned or leased vehicles)
  • Ability and willingness to work 3rd Shift (10:00 PM – 6:00 AM)
  • Successful completion of a background check, driving record check, and drug screen
  • Comfortable standing, walking, climbing stairs, and working in outdoor or varied environmental conditions for extended periods
  • Basic computer proficiency — enough to write reports, send emails, and operate security platforms
  • Ability to follow directions clearly and efficiently

Preferred:

  • Associate degree in Criminal Justice, Security, or a related field
  • Previous experience in law enforcement, military service, or industrial security
  • First Aid, AED (Automated External Defibrillator), or CPR (Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation) certification
  • Experience with two-way radio or emergency call-taking and dispatching
  • Familiarity with basic incident or motor vehicle accident investigation
  • Comfort with Microsoft Office Suite and Outlook
