OverviewThe Town of Dennis seeks qualified candidates for the position of Deputy Harbormaster. This position works under the direct supervision of the Harbormaster. 40 hours a week.ResponsibilitiesWork under the direct supervision of the Harbormaster to support harbor operations.Apply knowledge of waterway operations, boat handling, and rescue techniques in daily duties.Ensure compliance with applicable Massachusetts General Laws, Town bylaws, and regulations.Perform search and rescue duties as required, including physical tasks related to rescue operations.Assist in harbor management activities and related supervisory responsibilities as appropriate to the role.QualificationsAssociate degree or equivalent; and one to three (1-3) years of prior work experience in harbor management and/or marine fish and wildlife management, including shellfish propagation/cultivation, with supervisory experience; or any equivalent combination of education and experience that provides the knowledge, skills, and abilities to perform the essential functions of the job.Strenuous physical effort is routinely required to lift heavy objects (60–100 lbs.) and swim when performing rescue operations.
