WCI CORRECTION OFFICER (260004JN)Organization: Rehabilitation & Correction – Warren Correctional InstitutionUnposting Date: OngoingSchedule: Full-timeLocation: Warren Correctional Institution, 5787 State Route 63, Lebanon, OH 45036, United StatesCompensation: $24.88 per hour (Step 1). Step 2 ($25.61) after 6 months. Additional $0.60 per hour for 2nd or 3rd shift work.ResponsibilitiesMaintain control of the institution to ensure safety and security of the facility, inmates, staff, and general public by enforcing rules, regulations, policies and procedures.Supervise and direct inmate activity in assigned areas of the facility/institution.Ensure assigned area is clean, safe, and secure.Monitor and operate security controls, equipment, and computers.Operate automotive vehicles for perimeter security and transport of inmates.Conduct inmate counts, security rounds, and searches.Complete required reports and serve on committees.Prevent escapes or incidents that threaten security.When necessary, use physical force, unarmed self‑defense, firearms, or other force to detain or secure inmates.QualificationsHigh school diploma or G.E.D. and a valid driver's license. Positions that require transportation assignment also require a commercial driver's license. Applicants must have successfully passed the correction officer assessment within the last 24 months or be current employees who completed the assessment in prior employment.
