GS‑07 salary range $53,105 – $69,035 per year.Appointment TypePermanent, non‑supervisory.Job DescriptionThe Museum Technician is a public‑facing position that provides customer service, communication, and guided experiences for all visitors of the Library of Congress.Serve as a representative to visitors, providing information and responding to inquiries.Reserve passes and register visitors for events; control access by collecting passes and confirming reservations.Offer suggestions for other events and services, including tours of the Library and surrounding tourist destinations.Provide wayfinding and direct visitors within the Library's three Capitol Hill buildings.Present talks to the public or groups using prepared material.Conduct guided tours of various areas, exhibits, and specialized areas; respond to audience questions.Ensure visitor safety and compliance with Library policies.QualificationsAbility to serve as a representative to support audience and visitor engagement for a museum or organization.Ability to provide excellent customer service.Knowledge of the history, culture, and institutions of Washington, D.C. and the region.Ability to plan and execute work.Ability to interact collaboratively with others to provide liaison services.Ability to communicate effectively through verbal means.EducationNo education requirements.Veterans PreferenceVeteran's preference may apply for eligible candidates.Equal Opportunity StatementThe Library of Congress is an equal opportunity employer.
