Armed Protective Security Officer (PSO)
This position is for a part-time Armed Protective Security Officer (PSO) providing security services at designated federal buildings and installations in and around the Portland, Maine area.
FPS Protective Security Officers (PSOs) are responsible for maintaining the safety and security of federal facilities, personnel, visitors, and government property. Duties include access control, patrols, inspections, and emergency response. PSOs must maintain a professional presence while enforcing security procedures in accordance with federal contract requirements.
Secure federal buildings and government property
Control access for employees and visitors
Conduct patrols, inspections, and perimeter checks
Respond to alarms, incidents, and emergency situations
Prepare clear and accurate written incident reports
Enforce federal security policies and procedures
Minimum 2 years of security experience, OR military service, OR law enforcement experience
Ability to pass a federal background investigation
No felony convictions
No domestic violence or assault-related charges
U.S. citizen and able to provide a valid Social Security card
High school diploma or GED required
Minimum 21 years of age
Ability to read, speak, write, and understand English clearly
Must successfully pass: medical evaluation and drug screening
Must obtain and maintain required federal clearances (company assistance provided)
Available for 57 days of mandatory training, including firearms training, defensive tactics, OC spray and baton training
Must hold or obtain CPR / First Aid / AED certification
$30.13/hour base pay
$5.10/hour Health & Welfare benefit
Total Compensation: $35.23/hour
