Security Guard - Level II CertificationJob ID: 5688465Application Deadline: Jul 31, 2026 11:59 PM (Central Standard Time)Posted: May 04, 2026 5:00 AM (UTC)Starting Date: ImmediatelyJob DescriptionReports To: Chief of PoliceDuty Days: 187 DaysWage/Hour Status: Non-ExemptPay Grade: A04Date Revised: 09/2024QualificationsCollege hours, high school diploma or GED (preferred)Texas Driver License and available transportationLevel II security commission from the Texas Commission on Private SecurityAbility to record informationAbility to follow verbal and written instructionAbility to work effectively with studentsAbility to communicate effectivelyWorking knowledge of personal and property security techniques and electronic security systemsPossesses skills and interest in working within an educational environmentPossesses the sensitivity and maturity to work effectively with adolescentsPrevious experience as a security guard preferredPrimary PurposeUnder direct supervision, provide security and protection for students, campus personnel, patrons, and district property.Major Duties and ResponsibilitiesAssist in protection of students, staff, and district property.Serve as a security resource to students and campus personnel.Establish and maintain an ongoing working relationship with faculty and law enforcement personnel serving the school community.Identify unauthorized persons who come within the boundaries of the campus and verify their authority.Report all criminal offenses, originating on assigned campuses, to the district's police department.Prepare and file all appropriate reports.Appear in court and/or hearings as a witness or complainant when appropriate.Provide a general and consistent adult presence at critical locations during school related events.Provide a random security patrol on assigned campus.Coordinate security services with Katy ISD police personnel.Provide appropriate assistance during disasters such as hurricanes, tornadoes, fires, etc. (where Katy ISD personnel are required).Through the standard chain of command, inform the chief of police of all conditions that effect safety and security of students, staff, and district property.Equipment UsedTwo-way radio, CCTV, personal computer, and alarm systemsWorking ConditionsMaintain emotional control and professionalism under stress; prolonged standing; strenuous walking and climbing of stairs; moderate lifting and carrying up to 40 pounds. Able to physically respond to emergencies, control sudden violent or extreme physical acts of others and exhibit rapid mental and muscular coordination simultaneously.
