The Pennsylvania Game Commission is seeking a motivated Forest Technician to join the Northcentral Region of our Forest Management Division. This has the opportunity to work outdoors, tackle hands‑on projects, and see the direct results of your efforts.ResponsibilitiesAs a Forest Technician, you will provide technical support and assistance to Regional Forestry staff in day‑to‑day activities on State Game Lands, focusing on habitat management for young forests in Wildlife Management Units within the Region. Typical tasks include:Examining trees, marking timber, and conducting volume computationsSurveying and marking boundaries of timber sales, herbicide areas, and other forest habitat treatmentsAssisting foresters with field data collection and herbicide application for forest habitat management and maintenanceEntering data collected by foresters into appropriate computer programsConducting State Game Lands stand examinationsPreparing forest habitat type mapsMaintaining tools and equipment used in forest habitat management activitiesWork Schedule and Additional InformationFull‑time employment, 40 hours per weekWork hours: 7:00 AM to 3:30 PM, Monday‑Friday, with a 30‑minute lunchPosition headquartered at the Tioga County Habitat Management Crew headquarters office; focal area includes Tioga, Potter, Lycoming, and McKean counties, but work covers the entire Northcentral RegionTelework is not an option for this positionStarting salary may be non‑negotiable in some casesQualificationsAssociate's degree in forest technology or equivalent formal education in forestryWithin three months of graduating with a qualifying degree or credits, applicant will be considered to meet educational requirementsConditions of EmploymentMust possess a valid PA non‑commercial Class C driver's license or equivalentOther RequirementsPA residency requirement is currently waived for this titleMust be able to perform essential job functionsVeteransPennsylvania law provides employment preference for qualified veterans for many state and local government jobs.
