Applicants who are not yet AFJROTC certified must apply via the AFJROTC website to obtain certification.Qualifications:Minimum of 10 years of military service as of the date of application.Retired from, separated from, or currently serving in a component of the Department of the Air Force. All AFJROTC instructors must be from the Air Force or Space Force active or reserve component.Hold now or previously held a final grade of O3 to O6 (recently commissioned officers who met all criteria while enlisted may apply as O1/O2).Minimum of a bachelor's degree. A copy of transcripts showing degree completion must be provided.Completion of the Air Force JROTC Instructor Certification Course (JICC) or Virtual JICC. Certifications remain valid as determined by Holm Center/JR.Dynamic and understands the physical, intellectual, social, and emotional growth patterns of high school students.Technology skills necessary to deliver instruction.Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:Academic evaluation and data collection methods.School improvement.Best practices in the delivery of curriculum and instruction.Content area to be taught.Classroom management.Ability To:Deliver instruction in a manner that improves student achievement.Implement intense student support.Collect and manage data related to student progress.Monitor and support student safety.Communicate effectively orally and in writing.Work in a team environment with teachers and other stakeholders.Schedule activities, meetings, and/or events.Duties & Responsibilities: (May not include all duties performed)Instruct students enrolled in program to meet AFJROTC requirements.Provide written lesson plans in accordance with instructional objectives.Implement aerospace science and/or subject-specific programs to meet U.S. Air Force guidelines.Perform regular teaching tasks in a multi-subject JROTC curriculum as required by state and district requirements.Provide instruction.Assess and encourage student progress; manage the learning environment.Instruct students in military drill.Ensure proper maintenance and security of all government-furnished equipment/materials, including cleaning uniforms.Assist with planning and carrying out extracurricular activities for AFJROTC Unit (e.g., color/honor guard ceremonies, drill team, rifle team, Raider team, archery team competitions, field trips, summer leadership school).Assist in preparing monthly, semi-annual, annual, and periodic reports on program administration and logistics.Maintain up-to-date knowledge on all aspects of the military branch.Assess AFJROTC program to ensure objectives are met.Make annual presentation on AFJROTC Program to all students at feeder schools.Maintain contact with civic groups to obtain recognition of the AFJROTC program.Perform other duties as necessary for the effectiveness of the organization and safety of students.Set high expectations for learning and ensure students are aware of these expectations.Monitor and evaluate student progress; adjust instruction to support achievement.Apply effective practices in curriculum delivery.Use differentiated instruction aligned with student needs.Comply with all district/school policies, practices, and procedures.Attend training/professional development and implement provided information and materials.Use available technology to enhance instruction and achievement.Demonstrate competency in all subject areas taught.Provide evidence of student performance and progress.Create and maintain a climate of respect.Establish and maintain rules, conduct, and discipline consistent with district policy and conducive to learning.Adhere to policies and procedures regarding Special Education referrals, staffing, and conferences.Practice fairness in teacher‑pupil relationships and exhibit understanding and respect for students as individuals.Be punctual and regular in attendance at school and duty assignments.Show a cooperative attitude and professionalism toward students, parents, community, and school personnel.Communicate academic progress, attendance, and conduct of students to their parents/guardians.Other duties as necessary to the position.Working Conditions:Inside/outside office environment.Frequent standing, sitting, walking, and lifting.Possible CDL bus driving.Please note: The information contained in this job description is for compliance with the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) and is not an exhaustive list of duties.
