Job SummaryPublic safety work engaging directly in firefighting and station and equipment maintenance activities. This is a full‑time merit‑system firefighter position within Mobile County jurisdictions.ResponsibilitiesEngage directly in firefighting operations and station equipment maintenance.QualificationsGraduation from a standard senior high school, or successful completion of the General Educational Development (GED) test; or a combination of education and experience equivalent to these requirements.Valid driver's license from state of residence.Certified Firefighter I (or equivalent) with a Firefighter I certificate from the Alabama Fire College or an approved program, or completion of the Candidate Physical Ability Test (CPAT) within the past year.Volunteer applicants must hold a Volunteer Firefighter certificate and a valid CPAT.Completion of Firefighter I and Firefighter II training as defined by the Alabama Fire College.SalaryCity of Mobile: $51,402–$82,174 annually.City of Prichard: $35,664–$55,320.City of Chickasaw: $41,280–$64,044.City of Saraland: $41,470–$66,296.City of Bayou La Batre: $37,240–$59,535.City of Satsuma: $40,458–$64,678 (Amended 1/3/25; Amended 5/23/25).
