Job Description

General Description

We are seeking a highly motivated and skilled AWS Programmer to join our dynamic team. This individual will play a key role in maintaining our existing systems while leading the modernization of legacy applications through cloud transformation initiatives. The ideal candidate is a hands-on problem solver with a passion for cloud-native development and a strong background in AWS services. This position offers the flexibility to work remotely or from our downtown Austin office, with excellent state benefits including a pension and full medical coverage.

Examples of Work Performed
  • Design, develop, deploy, and maintain cloud-native applications using AWS services such as EC2, Lambda, API Gateway, S3, DynamoDB, and CloudFormation.
  • Refactor legacy applications for cloud readiness and scalability.
  • Develop and maintain applications using .NET, Python, and JavaScript in both traditional and serverless environments.
  • Collaborate with stakeholders to gather requirements and translate them into technical specifications.
  • Participate in Agile ceremonies and contribute to sprint planning, retrospectives, and daily stand-ups.
  • Implement CI/CD pipelines using GitHub Actions, AWS CodePipeline, CodeBuild, and related tools.
  • Monitor application performance and troubleshoot issues using AWS CloudWatch and X-Ray.
  • Ensure application security and compliance with industry best practices and standards (e.g., OWASP, PCI).
  • Maintain comprehensive documentation for cloud infrastructure, application logic, and deployment processes.
  • Provide mentorship and technical guidance to junior developers and team members.
General Qualifications and Requirements
  • Graduation from an accredited 4-year college or university in a technical field (transcripts required). One year of programming-related experience may substitute for each year of education.
  • Minimum three years of experience in application development and support, with at least one year of hands-on AWS development experience.
  • Strong understanding of cloud architecture, microservices, and serverless computing.
  • Experience with infrastructure as code (IaC) tools such as AWS CloudFormation or Terraform.
  • Familiarity with Agile development methodologies and DevOps practices.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment.
  • Excellent communication, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to write clear, accurate, and concise documentation of programs and procedures.
  • Regular participation in code reviews with the ability to give and receive constructive feedback.


Preferred Qualifications
  • AWS Certification (e.g., AWS Certified Developer ¿ Associate, AWS Certified Solutions Architect ¿ Associate).
  • Experience with Appian No/Low code environments.
  • Proficiency in AWS Lambda, API Gateway, S3, DynamoDB, IAM and EC2.
  • Experience with containerization technologies such as Docker and orchestration tools like ECS or EKS.
  • Familiarity with relational and NoSQL databases, including MySQL/MariaDB, Oracle, and DynamoDB.
  • Experience with Git-based source control systems (GitHub, Bitbucket, Azure DevOps).
  • Knowledge of secure coding practices and common vulnerabilities (e.g., SQL injection, XSS).
  • Experience with document management, imaging, and workflow systems.
  • Experience with credit card processing systems and PCI compliance.
  • Front-end development experience with JavaScript, HTML, and CSS.
  • Knowledge of Web API endpoints using RESTful standards to ensure secure, scalable, and efficient data exchange across systems.
  • Demonstrate strong knowledge of OAuth2 authorization flows to support secure user authentication and API access control.
